Character Award
During chapel on Thursday, December 19th, Colonel Brown and his Company leadership presented the "Excellence in Character Award" to Cadet Caleb Chester '21. The Excellence in Character Award is designed to recognize one deserving cadet who consistently displays the highlighted 4-week character trait - excellence.
Caleb Chester received the award for consistently producing top quality work in the classroom, maintaining uniform per cadet guidelines, and treating other cadets with the respect and dignity.

Alumni Speaker

Alumni Tyler Klink '07, a Chief Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney in Pittsylvania County, VA, spoke to cadets during Thursday morning chapel service on December 19th. Mr. Klink talked to the cadets about responsibility. He encouraged cadets to take ownership of their actions and trajectory in the world around them. Also during the service, the Encounter praise band led the Corps in worship.

Liberty Snowflex Facility

Cadets had an excellent time tubing and using the trampolines at the Liberty University Snowflex facility. Snowflex offers year-round tubing, skiing, and snowboarding. While we've have unseasonably warm temperatures, we know that these guys are ready to hit the slopes on skis and snowboards!

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

The following cadets completed their training and earned their American Red Cross Lifeguard certification this weekend: Caleb Chester, Gabe Chester, Ben Gregori, and Jay Thompson. They completed the grueling requirements enabling them to possess critical life saving skills.  They are now ready to serve as professional lifeguards both at Hargrave Olympic-sized indoor facility as well as eligible for summer jobs at home!

Post-Graduate Basketball at the Top

In the latest edition of the National Prep Coaches Poll, the Hargrave Tigers Post-Graduate Basketball team earned the #1 national ranking.

On the heels of an impressive tournament victory in  December at the Fork Union Military Academy Invitational, the Tigers were rewarded for their efforts by the voters when Tuesday's National Prep Coaches Poll was announced. Hargrave, currently 15-0, has put up face-to-face wins over other top national contenders:  #9 Woodstock Academy (89-72) and New Hampton (104-85).

Rogers-Fuller Baseball Field Preparation

New head varsity baseball coach, Frank Thomas, took to the baseball field over the holidays. With assistance from Mr. Don Haston, facilities director, and a rented turf cutter, the two of them improved the pitching mound and infield. Additionally, they repaired and cleaned up the batting cage.

Even though it is still the middle of the winter season, even more field preparations are scheduled so our Tigers can take to the baseball program to the next level this spring!
